Some Self Training ~ SKEPTICISM ~

~Skepticism~ ‘The Good The Bad And the Responsible’

In the ‘Feel Good’ Society we find ourselves in, it is easy to write off … any need to evaluate what is really going on.

Looking at all the Negative things that present themselves daily, will not be within the scope of what we will want to address in this post. Have you ever stopped long enough, to evaluate all … well maybe not all, as this would take to long, … … … to evaluate the negative, … … well, Lets just say, what each one of us would consider as negative, …Those things that happen around us, ‘Day In & Day Out’? … … … I bet you were wondering IF, I was EVER gonna get that thought out!

Allow me to hone in on “Skepticism” today and PLEASE, … go ahead and RUN WITH IT, so when I bring this thought to it’s culmination, you will already be there, with whether you agree or not.

Innovations NORMALLY COME UP AGAINST SKEPTICISM inasmuch as; they contravene personal and social credence. Established beliefs are so compelling and forceful, that wars are and will be fought over them.

They become THE foundational base for philosophies, psychology, political systems, and even medical concepts to develop and yes new Religions.

Some ENJOY their own Memorials! … … … SOMETIMES THEY ARE ONLY IMAGINARY TALES and are not even true. We just hope and think that they are.

Nevertheless, … … … for a moment, let us look at “The Good” that is derived from some of it!

Skepticism to Innovations is usually resistance to change. Including, “it’s too good to be true” attitude… or “That sounds too Spooky” or anything that resembles that… and so forth, … … … This is Healthy and GENERALLY … to be expected. SEVERELY scrutinizing “New Concepts” need to be the norm. … … It will make them stronger in the over all, … should they prove to prevail.

EVEN When one possesses a MAJOR development that is founded on the most convincing of known axioms, being contrary to TRADITIONAL understandings, … will always and expectantly be met with skepticism.

Here are a few quotes to make this point:

“Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible.”
Lord Kelvin, President Royal Society

“Everything that can be invented has been invented.”
Charles H. Duell, Director of U.S. Patent Office, 1899

“Sensible and responsible women do not want to vote.” Grover Cleveland, 1905

“There is no likelihood man can ever tap the power of the atom.” Robert Milikan, Nobel Laureate in Physics, 1923

“Who the heck wants to hear actors talk?” Harry M. Warner, Warner Brothers Pictures, 1927

Now, as we segue into “The Bad”!

We may as well start here with my standard Response:
“You can always tell a skeptic, BUT you cannot tell them very much!”

There are many more and no doubt you may come up with a few yourself. … … … Allow that to suffice, as I would like to move on to the main reason that I have been giving this so much thought.
As I am being blessed, with becoming ‘MORE’ knowledgeable, it in itself makes me ‘MORE’ aware to be ‘MORE’ “Responsible”. … … … To many times in the past, I have just passed on by an auspicious opportunity to make a difference, because of my intolerance to skepticism.

Almost a case of ‘The Pot Calling The Kettle Black’!

Having studied ‘Skepticism’ to this degree allows me to back up and NOT Write the Skeptic Off and leave another opportunity to minister to them at another time, … … … many of the times with the very innovation or new concept, … they would not have a part of before.

Albeit now IT IS your turn! Tell me where you believe that I am wrong … or maybe you were already there, waiting on me to get to The Conclusion. Whatever your outcome, Do Not become Hoodwinked to The Truth and be continually Blessed,as I am about my FATHER’s Business!

Search Engine Training
~MSN/Live Search~

Now that you have Google Search under your belt, you may not want to go much further, as all the Search Engines (SE) have their sites laid out very well. To the degree, that should you barely have the expertise to reach their Search page you will not have any problems to use what is before you.

msn_logo.png

MicroSoft Network (http://www.msn.com/) has a full page with a search box at the top, to type in your search parameters. This will suffice for your ‘Ordinary Garden Variety’ searches. Now to set up your ‘General Settings’ or go to an “Avalanched’ search, to the right of the ‘search box’ you will see a ‘Live Search’ link to their stand-alone SE. (http://www.live.com/)

Now that you are there, the options are laid out for you. We will take you thru a couple to ‘Get Your Feet Wet’.
The ‘Cowboy’ background has camouflaged links in it, should you have time to play with them. Above the search box, there are options to be more selective in your search and ‘Web’ is the default search.

Top Left of the page you can click back to MSN’s other sites and on the Top Right, ‘LogIn’, ’Advance search’ (here you can change the ‘General Settings’, for a single search.) ‘CashBack’, (Should you be an ‘On Line Shopper’, check this out.) ‘Options’, (We will look at this below.) and ‘Locality’ for lack of a better word, where The United States’ is the default, with other places to choose to search should you have the need to be more specific.

Now under ‘Options’, you may change your ‘General Settings’, (Called ‘Preferences’ in Google.) and the basic choices, except in ‘Live Search’ you are limited to displaying only 50 pages.

Every Page has the ‘Help’ link at the bottom and we will look at one of the FAQs for this lesson. We Clicked on ‘How can I customize my search?’ and as you can see these directions, will meet your needs. i.e.
1. Go to http://search.live.com.
2. On the right side of the search box, click Options, and then click Advanced Search.
3. In the Advanced search box, under Find search results that include the following, type the keywords for what you want to find, and then select one of the following options:
Continue to choose your options and then
4. Click Add to search.
5. When you’ve finished adding options, click the search button.

Go ahead and ‘Sign Up Now!’ with your Username, (You can use anything and we will use NuBie to get started.) Password [4] and a legit E-Mail Address. [al@dpg.cm] BE SURE to record what these are, so you can get back to them later when you need to edit &/or update what you are doing.

After you read the TOS, then check the box that you have and ‘Sign Up And Start Creating’! Somewhere you will have to type in the ReCAPTCHA words to continue. Should you not guess them the first time, … Keep Trying!

We are now to choose the name of our Blog. Now we are on the ‘Basic’ Editor Page. Notice on the left that you have three more Editor pages to choose from. They are ‘Multimedia’, ‘Revenue’ and ‘More’, which we will look at later.

Staying in on the Basic editor Page and on the ‘Element Tab’, we will drag the ‘Paragraph with Title’ on our
Working Area. Clicking on “Edit Title” HiLites it, so we can paste our title from above. Now we HiLite our Title and will use the ‘Font Controls’ to ‘Bold’, then Click on the Plus Sign (+) twice, now the color & we choose #71540c and then Align it to Center! WALLA! We have a title in place! Now click on Edit Paragraph, that we can paste the paragraph that we copied above.

Now we will drag on our Working Area a ‘Paragraph with Picture’. Click on the Sample Image to up load a picture. Drop Down Menu for ‘Element Options’ (Above Sample Image) and Click on Up Load New Image and your Explore Window opens up (Usually to last place you used it) and find the ‘Picture Of Your Choice’. For you who took my advice and read this lesson all the way thru will know where the POYC is and be ready for this direction.

We have positioned it to the left and click on ‘Edit Title’ in order to paste ‘Paragraph with Picture’ which we copied from above. Centered it and increased the size. Click on Edit Paragraph and paste the Paragraph Above and This one we copied from here.

Go to the top and click on ‘Publish’ Put in your Title and check for Availability, continue and unless you have or want to buy a Web Site, just click on the Black X in the upper right corner of the option and WALLA! “There It B!”

Dress Up Your Blog! ~By Dr. D. P. Gatten~

October 4th, 2008

There your are! Welcome back!!!

Ok … Lets dress our Google Blog up a little.
(Remember To Read All The Way Through Before Starting This Project!)

We need to go to the New Google Blogger Blog that we built last time and here is the one We built in the last Lesson, ><CLICK HERE> to see what we will wind up with.

Now we will update a few things Starting with our ‘About Me’ Byline and rest of our BIO.

Log into your Blog and you will see a ‘wrench & Screw Driver’ crossed in a X, which is the ‘Edit Icon’. Click On the ‘EI’ below the “About Me” in the left side panel, (To the Right Bottom.) and an edit page will pop up.

The first thing is we are going to change is ‘The Title’ i.e. ‘About Me’ to ‘Just The Facts!’.
Be sure to check the “Your profile will not be shown if it is not shared.” Box and the “Show on this blog” so this will be shown.

Next is the ‘Name’ you will use on your blog and we will use ‘1st’ on this blog. Now fill in the ‘Description’ and you can make it as long as you want. We are using, ‘All This Talent @ Work!’ (There may be a default limit, though I have not ever got there, so far.)

Should you not want to click on ‘Show on this blog’ Box, for your location, no need to fill out the rest. We will for this Lesson. Then click on ‘Save’.

OK! Let us see how to make changes to the appearance of the ‘Template’ we chose on our Blog.

At the top of your page, click on ‘Customize’, this will take you back to your ‘Dashboard and the ‘Page Elements’ Tab, that will allow you to ‘Add and Arrange Page Elements’.
Click on the ‘Edit’ NavBar and change it to ‘Silver’. We will be able to read it better. (There are Blue, {Default} Tan, Black and Silver options.)
Edit ‘Header’ and you can edit the title, add a description, image, etc to make it custom to your needs.
It takes time and practice to get what is the finished product. We have hacked a .jpg File (Graphic) and added some HTML to our Header for these results. Make a comment with your E-Mail, requesting the “How TOs” and I will show you how to do this!
Edit ‘Blog Posts’ and configure how you want your posts to behave in your Blog.
Before we stop on this lesson we will move our ‘About Me / Just The Facts’ up the side panel. Click on your ‘About Me’ (Hold) & Drag it to the top. Walla! Now it is where it belongs!
In the next lesson, we will add a ‘Gadget’ and look at the other things we can ‘Fine Tune’ on our Blog.
Looking forward to seeing you back for more!
